Bridgend Male Choir Soloists
This Bridgend - based Male Choir is lucky to have a number of very talented soloists, all living in South Wales. Each has their preferred genres or particular pieces, but all share outstanding voices and exceptional musical ability. Please find a list of the Bridgend Male Choir's soloists below.
Tenor Paul Carter has sung with the Choir since 1990. Preferred items are songs from the shows, none more so than Miss Saigon, Chess & West Side Story. Paul is married with three grown up children and lives in the Town.
Tenor Soloist
Graham Collins
Tenor Graham Collins has sung with the Bridgend Choir for many years and particularly enjoys singing both traditional Welsh and Irish ballads. A former council employee, Graham is married and lives in Bryntirion.
Tenor Leon Evans has sung with what was initially the Bridgend Police Choir then the Bridgend Male Voice Choir, since 1968. Prior to that time he had short spells with both Llanelli and Pontardulais Choirs. A versatile singer, he is retired and lives with his wife in Bridgend.
A former Welsh Guardsman and police officer, baritone David has been singing in choirs since he first joined the Welsh Guards choir in 1953, joining Bridgend in 2005. A founder member of the Ogmore Valley Male choir, he now resides in Bridgend.
Baritone Soloist
Brian Lewis
Baritone, Brian Lewis has sung with the Choir since 2000. He enjoys all aspects of Choir membership and usually saves something for Concert “after glows”. Both a newsagent and gas fitter, he is married with a grown up daughter.
Bass Soloist
Graham Morgan
Second Bass Graham Morgan has sung with the Choir since 1995. Particularly fond of Irish music, he often accompanies himself on guitar. A publican and former electrical engineer, he has six children and five grandchildren and lives in Llantwit Major.
John Morgan has sung with the Tenor Section since 1962. He has sung both solos and duets throughout this period and leads the Concert “after glow” sing along. John is a Chartered Engineer and MIEE and has spent his working life in power stations.
Second Tenor Soloist
Gareth Reese
After 14 years with the Choir, Gareth made his solo debut in 2006 showing that he is not just good at being the Choir Secretary.
Bass Soloist
Gethin Williams
Bass soloist Gethin Williams has sung with other choirs and joined the Bridgend Choir for the trip to Verona in 2003, enjoying it so much he decided to stay. He enjoys all kinds of music, especially hitting those low notes in solo mode. Gethin hails from the Swansea Valley and has spent his working life in the motor trade.
Tenor Soloist
Gwyn Williams
Tenor Gwyn Williams sang with several Choirs in Yorkshire before moving back to Wales. He enjoys singing light opera and romantic ballads. A retired school teacher, he lives with his wife in Llantwit Major.
