An update from David T Burt, Media Relations

After a very busy November featuring no less than three Charity Concerts; a post dinner performance for the appreciative Police Federation UK Conference; Annual Meeting and a hugely successful Annual Luncheon the Choir moves into the final month of the year with anticipation.

In December, choristers feature in their home town on three occasions at different venues, starting on the 1st at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Ewenny Road where they will be joined by Cantorion Pontyclun Ladies Choir and the Russell Sheppard Scholarship winner, soprano, Jennifer Walker. The Concert is to aid the Church with its fundraising. On the 16th the Choir will be at St Mary’s Nolton Church supporting the Parish of Coity & Nolton at its two-day Christmas Tree Festival. Finally, the Choir will be hosting its own very popular Carol Concert at the OCLP Club, Bryntirion on the 21st. Each Concert starts at 7 pm and is likely to be well attended. Please arrive early not to be disappointed.

In between these Concerts, the Choir has its highest profile engagements and anyone fortunate enough to have tickets for the sell-out Katherine Jenkins Concerts at Cardiff Bay will also get to see the boys from Bridgend. The Choir is delighted to have accepted an invitation to support Wales’ mezzo soprano singing star Katherine Jenkins on the 6th, 7th & 8th at Wales Millennium Theatre. Having sung with Katherine earlier in the year at Cardiff International Arena, there is much excitement at accompanying her again.   Those who are going along to hear the Choir at any of the events will be hearing the Choir at the peak of its performing ability, if its success in competition in 2006 is anything to go by. Winners from 34 choirs at the Cheltenham Festival of Music Performing Arts earlier in the year, they are also the current holders of S4C’s Cor Cymru Male Choir title and Fusilier’s Cup holders at the Welsh National Eisteddfod. Only two weeks ago, the Bridgend choristers were thrilled to be named Red Dragon FM Welsh Choir of the Choir. The choristers are extremely grateful to its Musical Director, John Jenkins and his professional team for making all this possible.
