ANNUAL CONCERT PREVIEW

Sunday 28 September 2008

Choir Publicity Officer, David Burt writes.....

Those privileged to attend the 2007 “Annual” will recall that the second half of the Concert featured popular songs from the London stage. In a similar vein, this year’s second half will include well known items from the world of opera. These will be performed by the Choir and its very popular guest soprano, Laura Parfitt.

A graduate of the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and of the Royal Academy of Music, Laura has been the recipient of numerous prizes and awards. She is currently appearing at the Millennium Theatre, Cardiff in the Welsh National Opera production of The Barber of Seville, one of the most popular operas by the prolific Italian composer, Rossini. In this perfect comic opera, Laura makes her debut as Rosina, as part of a world class cast. Wales certainly has someone to be proud of in its capital city production.

The first half of the BMC Annual Concert will feature a variety of items showcasing the talent of the Choir under its effervescent Musical Director, John Jenkins and gifted accompanist, Rhiannon Williams-Hale.
