A BUSY SUMMER SEASON

Saturday 21 June 2014

The Summer Solstice marks the half way stage of the Choir's busy summer programme..............

Already completed are the performances for Marie Curie cancer charity at Trinity Church, Porthcawl and the Cantorion Pontyclun Ladies' Annual Concert at All Hallows Catholic Church, Miskin.

Next came its sell-out annual fund-raising Luncheon attended by Choir President, Paul Porter with entertainment from BBC broadcaster & Choir Vice President, Phil Steele and held at good friends, Bridgend Athletic RFC's first class function room. Two open air performances preceded the longest day, both with fine, warm summer days.

Mair's Walk last weekend, supporting Velindre Hospital, has traditionally seen those participating being entertained by Bridgend Male Choir at the walk conclusion and...... bringing up the longest day, Choirs in the Castle at Coity, supporting “Y Bont”, when seven choirs performed separately to a large audience. All events were greatly enjoyed. The second part of its summer term continues both busy and exciting for its 100 total choristers.

It opens at 7.30 pm Friday, 27th June at Llantrisant Leisure Centre when it joins two other choirs to entertain an estimated several hundred audience. With some 200 choristers taking part, the concert also features the local Llantrisant Male Voice Choir and the touring, numerically strong Dutch choir, Gemeng'd Koor. The Choirs will sing separately, with a few linked items. The Bridgend choir's music team will also add to the entertainment. Tickets £8 are available at the Llantrisant venue & Porters Estate Agents, Nolton Street, Bridgend.

The following weekend, in support of Wales Air Ambulance, the Bridgend choristers are joined by Denbighshire's renowned Trelawnyd Male Voice Choir which is making an overnight trip south. The Joint Concert is at 7.00 pm, Saturday, 5th July at Tabernacle Church, Derwen Road, Bridgend. Again the Choir's will sing separately and come together for several items. Tickets just £5 are available from the Wales Air Ambulance shop, Adare Street, Bridgend or Gareth Reese, BMC Secretary T. 07773 170373.

The term ends with an invite to Bridgend Male Choir to compete at the hugely prestigious Llangollen International Music Festival later in the month – something which the Choir was very proud to accept.
