Bridgend Male Choir news update

Tuesday 17 May 2005

The Bridgend Male Choir has now returned from a very successful Tour of the Costa Blanca Region of Spain.

Not only was the Choir blessed with glorious weather, they were also fortunate to sing to packed Concert Halls where on each occasion, the entry tickets could have been sold three times over. A return invitation has already been received.

A Civic reception was attended by the British Consul who praised the choristers for being excellent ambassadors of the UK and Wales in particular.

The Choir is pleased to have supported the following Charities with their fund-raising: in Javea,  Amigos de Europeos Ambulancias and The Woman’s Refuge and in Moraira and Teulada, the Red Cross Ambulance Service and the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Choir’s immediate engagements on its return to Wales commence with a Memorial Concert to its popular and well known former Accompanist and Musical Director, the late Gwynfor Humphreys including the unveiling of a Plaque in his memory at Tabernacl Chapel, Derwen Road, Bridgend. Proceeds from the Concert will be donated to the local Osteoporosis Society, as requested by Gwynfor’s widow, Mair.

On Saturday, 3rd June the Choir will be joined by the Band of the Royal Engineers for a Concert at the Lake Theatre, Monmouth where funds will be raised for the Army Benevolent Society. This is an uplifting engagement to which choristers look forward after the successful joint Concert at Wyastone Hall with the Band last year.

On Saturday, 11th June, the Bridgend Male Choir will join many other Choirs from the Bridgend County Borough at the popular Choirs in the Castle event at Coity Castle.
