BRIDGEND MALE CHOIR VISITS CELTIC COUSINS

Wednesday 26 October 2016

This year’s Choir Tour sees BMC crossing the Irish Sea for a Dublin based visit. David Burt writes...
The Choir opens its tour at St. Stephens Church, Dublin (Pepper Canister Church) on Thursday, 27th October, helping the Dublin Lions to celebrate their 60th Anniversary. The proceeds will support one of its local charities, “Eric’s Party”. A post concert visit to Oil Can Harry’s will witness less formal enjoyment. The following evening sees the Choir making the short journey to Drogheda to appear in a joint concert with St. Peter’s Male Voice Choir at the West Street based St. Peter’s Church. This Irish choir enjoys an enviable reputation for the quality of its singing, evidenced by performing for the second time with Internationally known Italian tenor, Andrea Bocelli, only last week. A post concert afterglow nearby is also planned. The Bridgend choristers bring their official vocal entertainment to a close with a Saturday lunchtime recital at the gothic National Cathedral & Collegiate Church of St. Patrick, back in the city of Dublin.

It’s not all “work” however as during the visit, the tour party will visit the Wicklow Mountains and Bray, as well as a much anticipated visit to the Guinness Brewery. A glass or two of the black stuff should ease the choristers vocal chords, before embarking for the journey home.

Bridgend Male Choir can next be seen locally in a Poppy Appeal Concert at 7 pm on Armistice Day, Friday, 11th November at Bethlehem Church Life Centre, Cefn Cribwr. Joining them will be the excellent Llynfi Valley mixed choir, Noteworthy. Tickets £5 will support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal and can be purchased at the venue or from BMC Secretary T. 07773 170373
