Choir Supports Leukaemia Research

Saturday 17 June 2006

In a series of Concerts organised by the Cardiff Branch of Leukaemia Research, Bridgend Male Choir was delighted to support this worthy cause at Bethany Baptist Church, Rhiwbina on Saturday last.

The Caribbean heat brought a good turnout of supporters, although the contribution included gospel and not calypso!

Under the baton and growing reputation of maestro, John Jenkins and with the superb accompaniment of Rhiannon Williams-Hale the Choir went through a range of music which was both comprehensive and varied. Choir soloists included Gwyn Williams, Leon Evans, Graham Collins, Paul Carter, Thomas Jones and John Morgan, all of whose contributions, together with narrator John Jones were much appreciated.

The Choir was joined by final year Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama student, Jennifer Walker whose maturity for one so young was also hugely appreciated by the many concertgoers. Clearly, Jennifer has a glowing future before her.

Bridgend Male Choir has two further engagements this month. The next, on the 28th is at Cardiff Bay’s St David’s Hotel where it will entertain at an International Conference Banquet organised by the hosts, Cardiff School of Engineering and the following day a recording for S4C’s Noson Lawen programme which goes on air in the Autumn.
