LLANGOLLEN HERE WE COME

Friday 11 July 2014

The months of preparation and learning are upon the choristers and music team of the Bridgend Male Choir who late last year accepted an invitation to compete at the Llangollen International Music Eisteddfod

At 12.15 pm, on Saturday, 12th July, 78 choristers will muster at the Maes to compete at the highest level, which will be televised on S4C.

Musical Director, Rhiannon Williams-Hale & Accompanist, Stephanie Bailey have been inspirational in their coaching and in turn their charges will wish to give a performance worthy of all the effort which has been put in. The Choir's competition programme was aired at Tabernacle Church, Bridgend on Saturday last when they shared a concert with Cor Meibion Trelawnyd and which was well received. Just three rehearsals stand between the Choir and its entry.

Other choirs participating are Bloemfontein Male Choir (South Africa); Choir Khatisa (Georgia); Coro De Iddanoa Monteleone (Italy); Torshavnar Manskor (Faroe Islands) and from Wales, Bois Ceredigion and Cantorion Colin Jones.

The boys from Bridgend did compete in 2005 coming in fourth place, but having achieved runners up spots at Torquay and Douglas, Isle of Man in the past eighteen months, they hope all the preparation will take them to the musical summit this time. Wish them well! END
