WEST END COMES TO TOWN

Friday 28 September 2007

Choir fans will not wish to miss this Show...

Popular songs from many stage shows can be heard at Bridgend on Friday, 28th September 2007 – these will include favourites from Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Carousel, Sweet Charity, Ghost & others. A suite of songs from West Side Story to celebrate its 50th Anniversary will also be included, making the evening a very special occasion in an award winning Choir’s home town.

Gwawr Edwards and Craig Yates join with Bridgend Male Choir at its Annual Concert at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Ewenny Road for a performance which commences at 7 pm. Both soprano, Gwawr and baritone, Craig have sung with the Choir earlier this year at Cowbridge and Shrewsbury respectively & inviting them both to join the Choir at this showpiece event was a mere formality. Gwawr hails from Cardiganshire and amongst many other successes; she won the Welsh National Eisteddfod just last month. Craig is a student at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and his mature baritone voice perfectly compliments his soprano colleague. It will be worth going to the Concert alone to hear their involvement in popular songs from West Side Story including Tonight, Maria, I Feel Pretty, There's a Place for Us, One Hand One Heart and the foot tapping favourite America.

Not to disappoint fans of the more traditional Choir repertoire, the boys from Bridgend Male Choir will also entertain with a varied programme. This will include new items & old favourites, with the intention of making the whole evening a musical extravaganza to remember.   Concert entry is by Programme at a cost of £10, sales to date being brisk. To ensure you are not disappointed, please get your Programme now from Porters Estate Agents, Nolton Street, Bridgend; the News Shop, Dunraven Place, Bridgend; Choir Secretary, Gareth Reese on 862037 or any Chorister.
