Bridgend Male Choir – News Update

Monday 13 December 2004

Saturday, 11th December saw the Bridgend Male Choir complete its formal programme for 2004 with a Charity Concert at Swansea.

The Choir sang at St Peters Church, Newton, Mumbles with proceeds going to the Church and Community Hall.

This was the Choir’s first engagement at this venue, and they have been invited back when the Church Hall is completed. Led by Musical Director John Jenkins, our 70-plus strong South Wales Choir performed a varied concert featuring Choir Soloists Marcus Hopkin, Graham Collins, Thomas Jones, John Morgan, Gwyn Williams and Leon Evans.  Rhiannon Williams accompanied the Choir on piano and Marcus Hopkin played the organ. There were also welcome contributions from violinist Wendy Jenkins and from new Chorister Olly Bown on viola.

A good number of our Choristers are expected at Bridgend Athletic RFC Clubhouse, Ewenny Road, Bridgend on Thursday, 23rd December for a social gathering and sing-along.  All are welcome to attend & join in.

The Bridgend Male Choir wishes to extend its sincere appreciation to the steward, committee & members of Bridgend Athletic RFC for the excellent hospitality provided after Practice each Thursday evening.  The same appreciation is extended to the caretaker, Church council & members of Hermon Chapel at Nolton Street, Bridgend for their kindness in allowing the Choir to rehearse at their venue.

Choir Practice commences again at 7.30pm Thursday, 6th January 2005 and an invitation is extended to all new singers who wish to come along.  In the meanwhile, members of the Bridgend Male Choir extend their best wishes for the festive season to all supporters and organisations with which they have associations.
