The only chance to see Bridgend's Male Choir sing in Bridgend in the first half of 2006!
The Bridgend Male Choir will be staging a Concert at Tabernacl Chapel, Derwen Road, Bridgend on Friday, 3rd March 2006, in support of the Russell Sheppard Memorial Trust.
The late Russell Sheppard was appointed as Inspector with Special responsibility for Music to the former Glamorgan County Local Education Authority in 1949. His pioneering work included peripatetic music teaching in schools and the creation of orchestras, choirs and bands which were the envy of other authorities. The creation of the Mid, South & West Glamorgan Counties saw the continuation of his work to leave a lasting legacy.
In his memory a Memorial Scholarship was set up administered jointly by the Trust and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Since its set up it has flourished making a continuing contribution to the traditions of quality music from this Land of Song.
Joining the Choir in a celebratory Concert this year will be scholarship winner for 2006, Jennifer Walker, Soprano. A current student at the RWCMD, Jennifer has already distinguished herself winning a number of prizes for achievement in her music career to date.
She will be joined by the Choir’s own Baritone Soloist, Marcus Hopkin. This multitalented professional fulfils the functions of Associate Musical Director, Accompanist and Chorister for a Choir which fully appreciates his talents.
The Concert will be conducted by the ever popular Musical Director, John Jenkins and will feature a wide variety of content to suit all tastes. The Concert will commence at 7pm and tickets priced £5 are available at the door.
