The Inaugural Ray Murray Concert, sponsored by Porters Estate Agency & held to raise funds for the Cowbridge based charity, Prostate Cymru, featured the Bridgend Male Choir, with musical director, Rhiannon Williams-Hale; guest accompanist, Sian Davies and compere, Gareth Davies.

Also on stage were the Pendoylan Church In Wales Primary School Choir, with conductor Debra Jones & guest soloists, Mia Edwards, Callum Howells & Jodie Bird, all recent winners at the Treorchy Eisteddfod.

The Concert raised well over £1500 for the Prostate Cymru challenge, "Touching the Sun". This challenge is being taken up by 13 intrepid explorers, led by Andrew Thomas, Consultant Urologist and co-founder of Prostate Cymru, who aim to climb 5 volcanoes in Ecuador to raise funds for a Da Vinci robotic facility at the University of Wales Hospital, Cardiff. This equipment will be used for the treatment of prostate cancer.

The party left Cardiff International Airport for Quito in Ecuador today. The challenge will last for 14 days, during which time the expedition will climb the rugged volcano mountains of Ecuador to get to the nearest point on Earth to the Sun.
