Looking forward into Summer 2007.

A busy summer season awaits choristers from Bridgend Male Choir with several television appearances thrown in.

Fresh from S4C’s Cor Cymru televised competition, the Choir appears again on the channel when it features in a Friday evening showing of Noson Lawen shortly, appearing with Dafydd Iwan. This will be followed with a Sunday afternoon appearance on the BBC1’s forthcoming series, The Garden Show introduced by Alan Titchmarsh and filmed at Duffryn Gardens.

On the live scene, the Choir travels to Surrey for a Concert & Wedding before jetting off on its eighth consecutive European annual tour at this month end, this time to Northern Ireland. The Choir will appear at Craigavon, Dunmurry, Waringstown and Belfast City Hall. At Waringstown, it will follow its appearance at Holy Trinity Church with a visit to the town’s cricket club for an appearance on Songs of Praise.

The month of June sees the Choir joining many others back in the locality at the popular Choirs in the Castle event at Coity on the 16th, before making an appearance on ITV’s second most popular programme, X Factor, at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff. Before the month end it hosts its second visiting choir from the United States in recent months.  Liberty High School a Capela Choir from San Francisco appears with the boys from Bridgend on the 23rd at Tabernacl Chapel, Bridgend.

Next up sees the Choir accepting an invitation from Katherine Jenkins to support her at her first KathFest event at Margam Park on July 8th. Katherine is joined by the wonderful Peruvian tenor, Juan Diego Florez and 2005 Cor Cymru winners, Serendipity. It promises to be a great day out. Charity concerts in support of Macmillan Nursing and the Army Benevolent Fund also follow during July. The former is at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Penarth on the 13th and the latter at Wyastone Leys, Ross on Wye on the 20th, when the Choir is joined by the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers.

More details will follow about August and September appearances, but it is worth making a note of the date of the Bridgend Festival of Wales, when the Choir appears in the Town centre to support on September 22nd.
