Thursday 17 November 2005
November has been busy for the choir, with a recent performance for Diabetes UK in Cardiff generating a very warm response from the City of Cardiff's Lady Lord Mayor, as well as the Event's sponsors.
This was followed last weekend with a journey to Timsbury, Somerset raising funds for that Area’s Rotary Club Charity. This was the fourth such appearance showing the popularity of the Choir’s visits.
The year draws to a close with a very welcome but rare visit to the Garw Valley to Blaengarw Workmen’s Hall on the 25th November supporting Chernobyl Children’s Charity. The Choir last performed in the Valley almost 45 years ago. Interestingly, a young man playing the trumpet on that occasion is now the Bridgend Choir’s Musical Director, John Jenkins. This is followed by a Concert in Bridgend at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Ewenny Road on 2nd December supporting the Annual Church Concert fundraising event. All Concerts commence at 7pm and some tickets will be available at the door at each event.
The final event of the year will be a Carol Concert on Thursday, 22nd December at the OCLP Club, Bryntirion. No tickets are being printed and entry can be gained again at the door at a cost of £2 and free for children who are not yet teenagers. This Christmas themed Concert will commence at 7.30 pm and end at 9pm. Please arrive early for what is sure to be a well attended event.
Plans for an equally successful 2006 are well progressed with arrangements in hand for two prestigious events supporting major Welsh charities; another European Tour and entry to the Welsh National Eisteddfod. New members are always welcome and invited to attend at the OCLP Club, Bryntirion by 7.15pm on Thursdays.
The Choristers wish to take this opportunity to thank its Professional Music support staff for setting such high standards and also its many sponsors and supporters for helping to make 2005 such a successful year.
