UK Cathedral Series Tour - the journey begins...

During 2010, to celebrate its Golden Birthday, Bridgend Male Choir will undertake a UK Cathedrals Tour taking in the cities of Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham and Liverpool.   First up is Cardiff on 9th April when choristers will be singing at the Metropolitan Catholic Cathedral of St David in Charles Street, supporting Cancer Research Wales at its Annual Gala Charity Concert. The Choir has already supported its adopted Charity, which conducts all its research in Wales, at the better known Llandaff Cathedral and at St David’s Hall and is excited to perform at a venue that is new to the Choir. Concert guests include Bridgend’s up and coming Scott Williams on organ and the renowned Glyndebourne soprano, Helen-Jane Howells.

The Choir is delighted to have secured the excellent Helen-Jane’s singing services for a number of events this year. Currently performing at Paris and Caen, Helen-Jane is playing Eve in Purcell’s Opera, The Fairy Queen in a co-production of Les Arts Florissants and Glyndebourne Festival Opera. Her plans for 2010 include major parts from Mozart, Bach and Elgar and playing the role of Amore in L’incoronazione de Poppea for Glyndebourne on Tour 2010.

Tickets, priced at £10, are available in Cardiff from Cancer Research Wales (T.029 2031 6976); maggie.hughes2@velindre-tr.wales.nhs.uk; and in Bridgend at the News Shop, Dunraven Place and Porters Estate Agents, Nolton Street.   END
