An invitation to Bridgend Male Choir almost 12 months ago to join the host choir & others in celebrations next weekend, was willingly accepted by choristers.
After all, the birthday celebration is in the form of a joint concert to be held on Saturday, 7th May at Birmingham Town Hall. As well as the host choir and BMC, also joining in the singing are the male choirs of Pontarddulais; Dunvant and Cardiff Arms Park.
Whilst some of the content is well known choral fayre, other additions have included a great amount of learning. For Bridgend MVC, these include the challenging Nidaros (the medieval name of Trondheim, Norway and capital of the Country’s first Christian kings); Prayer (from Wagner’s Opera, Lohengrin) and the Eric Jones’ arranged Psalm 150, with its spectacular organ introduction. Almost 300 choristers will be singing, as well as soprano soloist Menna Cazel Davies and violinist Jody Smith. Tickets are available at the venue.   Â
