How inspirational and satisfying it was to be back with another Annual Concert in one of our favourite venues, Capel Y Tabernacl Bridgend on Friday 14th October.
The programme couldn’t have been better, with a balance of Welsh and English pieces, soprano Erin Gwyn Rossington who sang sublimely, Tomos Xerri with his mesmerising playing of the harp, and brilliant recital by Jeffrey Howard on the organ.
Musical Director Ryan Wood and Accompanist Stephanie Todd had clearly worked hard in difficult times through Covid, especially as they couldn’t practice with a full choir in four part harmony. Their individual performances on the night were absolutely top draw.
The Choir’s long-term compere, former Chairman and Honorary Life Member Gareth Davies brought even more depth and humour than usual, which fired up an enthusiastic audience in readiness for the next piece.
The word-perfect Gettysburg Address by Baritone Dr. Peter Morgan was once again filled with poignancy.
All in all, an outstanding concert, with every chorister performing out of their skin to repeated rapturous applause and a final standing ovation.
