Bridgend Male Voice Choir set the mood for Christmas with this timely performance at St Mary’s Catholic Church, Bridgend, on the evening of December Ist 2003 The evening was hosted by the incomparable Chris Jones. The choir’s talented musical team, director Ryan Wood and accompanist Stephanie Todd conducted and accompanied the choir’s programme of the evening. St Mary’s Catholic Primary School Choir delighted all with their performance of Christmas Carols and songs. Parents in the audience could feel proud of their singing offspring. Dr Peter Morgan amused the audience with a rendering of Dylan Thomas’ ‘A Child’s Christmas in Wales’. Perfect for this festive season! A guest appearance by cellist Steve Robert’s, enthralled all with a haunting rendering of Cavatina( Deer Hunter) and of Chestnuts Roasting by the Fireside, the latter of which contributed to the Christmas mood. The two musical pieces were accompanied by Ryan Wood. Toward the end of the evening’s programme, the members of the male voice choir along with St Mary’s Primary school choir, donned Father Christmas hats, coming together to sing White Christmas. The male voice choir members demonstrated a pleasure at performing with the children, with smiles all round. The evening was rounded off with audience participating in the Carol O Come All Ye Faithfull, and of course our Welsh National Anthem . The evening was well worth turning out on a bitterly cold and frosty evening. All proceeds to St Mary’s Catholic Church, Bridgend. Concert review by Mags Stevens, Ogmore by Sea
