A successful concert at St Peter Church, Newton, Swansea last weekend leads Bridgend Male Choir into its final month of 2011A engagements. One of the concert highlights will surely be the Chopin performance from the Choir's very gifted accompanist, Laura Smith.
Friday, 3rd June at 7.00 pm sees the Choir perform at Haberdasher’s School for Girls in Monmouth, where it will be accompanied by the Band of the Corps of Royal Engineers. The beneficiary of the Concert is the charity, Army Benevolent Fund. The Choir is delighted to have been invited to return to Monmouth on a number of occasions to assist this excellent support of servicemen. Tickets are available at the venue prior to the start.
On Saturday, 4th June, Bridgend Male Choir is back in its locality at the historic, open air Coity Castle venue. “Choirs in the Castle”, featuring a number of soloists and choirs singing independently, has developed a reputation where choirs feel privileged to receive an invite to sing before a large enthusiastic audience, this year supporting the south Wales based, Ty Hafan Children's Hospice. The Concert starts at 6.00 pm and Bridgend Male Choir takes the stage at 8.30 pm. Concert goers are encouraged to arrive early to set up their chairs and picnic tables for the feast of choral singing to follow.
Friday, 17th June at 7.00 pm, sees the Choir return to Bethlehem Church Life Centre, Cefn Cribwr where it has always received the warmest of welcomes. It's guests this year are the young choristers of the Maesteg Children's Choir, which is celebrating its 25th Birthday. This outstanding group of singers has received numerous invites in recent years, resulting in a growing prestigious reputation. Finally, on 23rd June, choristers from the Bridgend Choir are thrilled to have been invited to participate at the official opening of the new Lecture Hall/ Theatre at Bridgend College. All concerned with the development of this wonderful facility for study; music and the arts in the Bridgend County are to be congratulated for what they are bringing to the area.
