Bridgend Male Choir will be recording its 50th Birthday Golden Anniversary Celebratory CD on 16th & 17th May 2009 in readiness for release later this yearThe CD recording will be masterminded by former EMI & Universal Records executive, Gordon Lorenz who will work closely with the Choir’s skilled and charismatic Musical Director, John Jenkins. As well as enjoying the musical support of its excellent Accompanist, Laura Smith, choristers will be supported by Organist, Scott Williams from Brackla who has worked with the Choir on numerous occasions. To add that special extra touch the Choir has engaged the services of members of one of the World’s best known group of musicians, the Halle Orchestra based at Manchester. The Choir is very grateful to Tabernacl Chapel at Bridgend for the use of its excellent facility and wonderful acoustic and is also indebted to its own Music Committee headed by Choir Vice Chairman, John Gould for its hard work.

The CD is intended to provide a mix of items from the Bridgend Male Choir repertoire. In Welsh it will include Gwahoddiad, Lisa Lan, Si Hei Lwli Mabi & Finlandia. Popular items from theatre will include, Bring Him Home (Les Miserables), You'll Never Walk Alone (Carousel), Cavatina (Deer hunter), Memory (Cats) and Puccini’s Humming Chorus from Madame Butterfly. Light music choices include As Long as I have Music, This Little Light of Mine and Karl Jenkins’ Pie Iesu. To please those who enjoy traditional choir “potboilers”, also included are Comrades in Arms, The Creation and Pilgrims' Chorus.   Musical Director, John Jenkins has written the scores for the instrumentalists and both he and his team have worked choristers hard with preparation & many hours practice to make this recording a success. For their part choristers will be pleased and no doubt relieved that the actual recording has arrived. To provide an indication of the popularity of the Bridgend Male Choir sound, the Choir’s previous CDs are virtually sold out. To place an advance order for a copy of the new production, please contact Choir Secretary, Gareth Reese on 01656 862037 or send a message to the Choir’s website www.bridgendmalechoir.co.uk
