CONCERT - OYSTERMOUTH PARISH CHURCH OF ALL SAINTS

Thursday 17 May 2012

Tim O'Hagan, Press Officer has sent the following to the press

Having only been appointed as Musical Director of Bridgend Male Choir in mid April, Rhiannon Williams-Hale will conduct the choir for the fourth time at 7.00pm on Friday, 25th May 2012 at All Saints Church, Oystermouth to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Swansea Bowls Club. The engagement had originally been arranged by the late John Jenkins, who was an avid bowler at the Swansea club and well-known in South Wales as a distinguished musician.

The concert will be shared with two soloists, the euphonium player, Byron Newton, winner of the 2011 Russell Sheppard Scholarship at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and the Choir's own organist, Scott Williams. The Bridgend musical team will include Laura Smith, accompanist, and Scott Williams, organist. Tickets will be available at the door, price £10.

Rhiannon’s busy schedule with the choir will see her conducting another six engagements before August this year. Bearing in mind the recent date of her appointment, she and the Choir have reluctantly decided that they will not be participating in the National Eisteddfod in the Vale of Glamorgan in August as there will be insufficient rehearsal time in the remaining few weeks to prepare competition pieces to the required standard.
