The Choir continues with its busy very special year. David Burt writes....
The Dutch Millennium Choir completed its short tour to the County of Bridgend with very well attended joint concerts at the Bethlehem Church Life Centre, Cefn Cribbwr on Friday and at All Saints Church, Porthcawl on Saturday. At the first concert the visiting Choir were guests of Bridgend Male Choir which joined them in the performance and at the latter a similar format was enjoyed with the combined Porthcawl Male Voice Choir and the Port Talbot Cymric Choir. Both evenings were great entertainment and drew much applause from all present.
On Sunday, before returning to the Netherlands the visiting choristers and their touring party visited Cardiff Bay and the local coastline. The visiting Choir was delighted with the arrangements made for the visit by Vince Scanlon, a great friend of the local choirs, who has recently returned with his charming wife Margaret to live in south Wales, after some years in Spain.
During the week before these Concerts, Bridgend Male Choir was delighted to perform for the residents at Sandville, Kenfig to support the work of the wonderful people who dedicate themselves to the care of those who visit and use the excellent facilities. It's good to know that a Choir numbering 90+ still feels it of the greatest importance to support all that is good in the locality.
A musical treat for all fans of Choirs can be seen and heard this coming weekend at the wonderful open air venue which is Coity Castle in the annual “Choirs in the Castle” event, when a number of choirs and soloists will be participating. The first performance commences at 6.00pm on Saturday, 12th June and tickets will be available at the venue. (Don't forget to take a folding chair)
