BMC are delighted to announce the arrival of the Dutch Millennium Choir in early June
A wartime commemorative visit by Bridgend Male Choir to the Netherlands a few years ago resulted in an introduction to this Utrecht based Choir, the bond of friendship progressing to an invitation to sing in the Bridgend area.
The visiting Choir was born in 1997 from the inspiration of professional singer/ conductor, Jaap Jan Hunze. In recent years the Millennium Male Choir has sung throughout the USA and Canada, as well as mainland Europe. Its most recent competition success was an award collected in Prague at an International Competition involving 80 choirs from around the World. Choir leader Jaap Hunze has been involved with Dutch choirs over many years helping to found a number and having had the honour of leading one group of over 300 choristers in a performance for the Dutch Royal Family.
Under the musical direction of Jaap Jan Hunze and accompanist, Paul van der Riejden the 50 strong Dutch Millennium Choir will be the annual overseas guests of the Bridgend Male Choir at Bethlehem Church Life Centre, Cefn Cribbwr. Concert goers will also hear the Bridgend Male Choir, which will share the platform for an expected choral feast.
The Concert takes place on Friday, 4th June at 7.00pm. Tickets are £5 and are available from either the venue; the News Shop, Dunraven Place, Bridgend or from Choir Secretary, Gareth Reese on 01656 862037.
