Full set in Wales' capital city

Tuesday 13 February 2007

Update by David T Burt

All four major venues in the Welsh capital will have seen the award winning Bridgend Male Choir performing within a 12 month period, when the Choir completes the “set” on Friday, 2nd March 2007 at St David’s Hall. The occasion is a St David’s Festival Gala Concert in aid of Cancer Research Wales, which will be presented by Huw Edwards & feature Catrin Finch (Harp), Jennifer Walker (Soprano) & the BTM Brass Band.

Within the period, choristers have performed at the City’s historic Cathedral at Llandaff; at the huge Cardiff International Arena and the fantastic Cardiff Bay’s Millennium Theatre. On other visits to the Capital during the year, Bridgend Male Choir has also performed at Bethany Baptist Church, Rhiwbina and at a number of hotels, including the Holland House, Hilton and Marriott hotels, as well as the St David’s hotel on the Bay.

During these performances, the Choir has shared stages with Vittorio Griggolo (Tenor), Fflur Wyn (Soprano), Cerys Jones (Violin), Gardar Thor Cortes (Tenor), the Anthony Inglis conducted National Symphony Orchestra and Wales own national treasure & mezzo soprano, Katherine Jenkins. What an experience for choristers, under the baton of maestro, John Jenkins and the accompaniment of Rhiannon Williams-Hale, Cheryl Jones and Laura Smith, they have brought great credit to Bridgend County.

There is still time to catch the St David’s Hall performance on 2nd March and also on the 9th at Cowbridge Leisure Centre for the charity, Hope & Aid Direct. Then surprise, surprise, the Choir returns to Cardiff, this time to the Senedd home of the Welsh Assembly on the 20th, when all are welcome to attend between 12.30 – 1.30 pm. Hope to see you at all three!
