Last night saw the full concert debut of Ryan Wood, Musical Director at Bridgend Male Choir.
Excellent comments from his charges made the Concert at the Royal Welsh Showground, Builth Wells a great success. Accompanist, Stephanie Bailey was her usual peerless self. Peter Morgan had clearly done his research for a very competent compere debut as well.
The boys from Bridgend, including soloist Paul Carter, gave their all and were supported by the first class, harmonious ladies of the Builth Wells Ladies Choir under their MD & Accompanist, Ionwen Davies & Helen Sedgwick respectively. The Choir's programme content was a joy to hear, as was Ionwen's solo contribution.
The treat for all participants & the appreciative audience was the debut of young Nathan Isaac with his clarinet playing. The highlight for the author being the 3rd Movement from Mozart's Clarinet Concerto. What a debut. Nathan deservedly led the way with his standing ovation, an accolade later received by both choirs. It's little wonder that Nathan has been accepted to continue his studies at the Birmingham Conservatoire. Best wishes, Nathan.
BMC long standing Chorister, Graham Hill, had put it all together with his other great love, the Welsh Kennel Club. Thanks from us all Graham, let's do it again. (DTB)
