Bridgend Male Choir’s first CD launch in 6 years appears to have been long awaited after achieving sales in excess of £2,500 in the first few days, not including those sold at Tesco & Asda, Bridgend & Pyle and Wales in Union at Porthcawl.
Feedback on the new CD, “# Sounds Like...” has been very positive, a credit to the Choir’s music team; Music Wales Ltd & Jayce Lewis in particular, plus the enthusiastic choristers.
It’s been a hectic, but hugely enjoyable period for the Choir, around the launch date, St. David’s Day. Some of the highlights include an appearance at Oldcastle School, Bridgend’s Welsh Week celebrations, when the senior choristers were enthralled with the school choir’s performance of “Naughty” from Roald Dahl’s Matilda and Music Specialist teacher, Miss Charlotte Boughton entertained with a quite beautiful soprano voice. Also included in the music teams were Miss Ros Harris from the school & Rhiannon Williams-Hale from BMC. Next on the enjoyment list was a Saturday visit for BMC to a very busy Bridgend Designer Outlet to entertain shoppers and promote it’s CD. Crowds stopped to listen to the Choir perform live songs from the CD, plus hear other recordings from a sound system. Rhiannon, together with accompanist, Stephanie Bailey helped make the event a great success.
This week it’s back to rehearsal for what has become in recent years a very popular, “Three Choirs Concert”. This takes place at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 7.00 pm on Friday, 11th March. Joining BMC will be a very harmonious group of lady choristers, Vocelle and the Children’s Choir of Oldcastle School. Tickets, £6 can be purchased in Bridgend from Felicity’s Jewellers, Nolton Street and Williams & Evans, Outfitters, Queen Street, both Bridgend. They are also available at the Church entrance, immediately prior to the start. By attending, you will be supporting the worthy St. John’s Trust, which aims to purchase, preserve & revive the old, historic St John’s building on Newcastle Hill.
