It is with profound sadness that Bridgend Male Choir announce the devastating news of the passing of long standing and legendary second tenor, chorister Bill Hodge on December 15th at Glangwili Hospital Carmarthen.
Bill was an absolute gentleman who was larger than life, extremely generous, and an inspiration to everyone he met. He was much loved and would charm you with his immense charisma and a wicked glint in his eye. One could not help but be in good spirits when in Bill’s company as he entertained you, either with his beautifully melodic duets with his son Wayne, his sweet tuneful solos or with his renowned Jethro impressions and jokes.
He demonstrated huge dedication and commitment to the choir and, despite ill health in the last few years, continued travelling from his home in Llanelli for weekly rehearsals and concerts. A journey perhaps demanding enough for someone who is fit and well. He was an example to us all.
Bridgend Male Choir has lost a very passionate, hugely popular chorister and friend who was awarded honorary membership of the choir for almost 50 years service in February 2018. He will be sorely missed and our deepest sympathy goes out to his son Wayne and the rest of Bill’s family.
The Man, The Myth, The Legend, a gift to us all……That is Bill Hodge!!
